"A ramblers' paradise"
The Guardian describes The Wolds as “a ramblers’ paradise” and a local walk features in The Times top 20 – and it’s easy to see why. We’re surrounded by some of the most beautiful, undiscovered countryside around and are a short stroll from an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Caistor is also very proud to have been awarded Walkers are Welcome status and you only have to have a little potter to see why.
Here are a few walks from our friends over at Walkers are Welcome Caistor:
Caistor Walkabout is designed to take you around the town to see sites and places that are considered to be of most interest to visitors. Along the way, there will be various places for you to stop off and eat, or just sit down and enjoy the surroundings.
This walk passes through an area that was, until just a few decades ago, one of the most industrial parts of the Wolds. Today the Nettleton Valley is a grassy picturesque place, and from the top there are fine views towards the River Trent and Lincoln.
An interesting walk at the foot of the Wolds, mainly on tracks, paths and quiet lanes. Go through woodland and the attractive village of Claxby before reaching Nettleton.
Dare you take on the Caistor Challenge? This 25 mile circular walk includes scenic views of the Lincolnshire Wolds and passes eight villages and churches.
Take a look at Caistor past and present with Caistor Civic Society. We have a variety of walks to choose from – all with experienced, knowledgeable guides. They all start by meeting in the Market Place. To book your place call 01472 851616 or 01472 851740.
